The Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Yisa Adeniyi Olaniyan, Ariwigbade Oshingin II, the prescribed authority and paramount ruler of Ipokia local government, commiserate with the Olurin family, on the loss of General Adetunji Olurin, who died at the age of 76.

 

 

General Tunji Olurin, born in Ilaro, Ogun state, Nigeria, was a one-star general(brigadier general), in the Nigeria army, who served as a military governor of Oyo state and field commander of ECOMOG peacekeeping force in Liberia, from 1992 to 1993, during the first Liberian civil war.

 

 

General Adetunji Olurin, retired from service in 1993 and took part in politics. He was civilian administrator of Ekiti state, between 2006 and 2007.

Oba Olaniyan wishes to express his heartfelt condolences, to the departed’s immediate family, the Yewa people, and Ogun state as a whole, on the loss of such a hero.

 

 

HRM, Oba Yisa Adeniyi Olaniyan, extols the excellence of General Adetunji Olurin, who contributed immensely to community development, using his virtues and knowledge to support governments in Nigeria and across Africa, including the United Nations, he called his death, an irreparable loss.

 

 

General Adetunji Olurin during his time also served, as the Chancellor of Nigeria’s first university of education, TASUED, may his soul rest in peace.
