A foremost traditional ruler in the Southwest, HRM Oba Hameed Oyelude Makama, the Olowu of Kuta, has commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Army, the Attahiru family and families of other victims of the ill-fated Air Force plane which killed the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and ten others on Friday.
The Osun State revered monarch, in a statement on Saturday, described the incident as deeply saddening, adding that it was an unfortunate event that cut short the bright career of Attahiru and other military officers.
Oba Makama stressed the fact that Attahiru died at the time the nation was in dire need of his services, given his commitment to the fight against insurgency and banditry.
On behalf of the palace and the entire community, Oba Oyelude prayed that God gives the late COAS’ family and those of other victims the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, 54, was appointed the 25th COAS in January 2021.
Meanwhile, Oba Makama, has appealed to Nigerians not to relent in their support for the Federal Government, especially the Nigerian Armed forces as they commit their life to winning the war against insurgency and kidnapping, noting that it is the only way honour the memory of the departing COAS and other gallant military officers who have paid the supreme price since the beginning of the war.
