The last has not been heard about the violence recorded at Ojoku, Oyun local government on Tuesday as a serving member of the senate, Senator Rafiu Ibrahim has been made to be a guest of the Nigeria Police. Global Excellencewas told that the senator was arrested in connection with the said fracas which took place at the Architect Lola Ashiru’s campaign rally in Ojoku on Tuesday. Ashiru is the APC Kwara South senatorial candidate while the Senator Rafiu Ibrahim who currently represents the Kwara South senatorial district is seeking re-election on the platform of the PDP. Ojoku is the hometown of the PDP senatorial candidate and about two persons were said to have died in the incident. In a statement on Thursday, Hon. Muideen Abdulrahman who is the Chairman, PDP Kwara South Youth Forum, however, alleged that the decision to arrest the senator was part of the script to get him out of circulation ahead of Saturday’s election and that the development was a clear indication that officers of the Nigerian Police Force is biased against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State and other parts of the country. He accused the APC candidate, Lola Ashiru of holding a late-night rally, where he allegedly celebrated the arrest of the Senator . A group, the Kwara Must Change, however , disagreed with Kwara South Youth Forum and said it received the news of the Senator and his subsequent detention with excitement. KMC state coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Olatunji said the development has shown that nobody is above the law. ‘Kwara Must Change is of the view that, while every suspect remains innocent until proved otherwise, we believe the arrest of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim shows that no one is above the law and that nobody, no matter how highly placed has the license to kill or deprive other people of their fundamental rights to life’ he declared.
