Ogun NUJ Names Dayo Rufai Chairman, Welfare Committee

The Ogun State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, has appointed Baaroyin Dayo Rufai, the publisher of Gateway Times Nigeria and Ijebu News Xtra magazines as the chairman of the union’s welfare committee in the state.

 

 

Rufai was inaugurated alongside others by the state chairman of the union, Comrade Soji Amosun, at the state secretariat on Monday March 22, 2021 in Abeokuta, the state capital.

 

 

According to Comrade Amosun, the welfare committee is expected to come up with appropriate welfare schemes, a framework for members of the council and design programmes that would be more meaningful for the peaceful coexistence of journalists in the state.

 

 

In his acceptance speech, Rufai appreciated the Council for finding him worthy of the appointment, promising to utilize the opportunity to make every journalist in the state proud of the noble profession.

 

 

“The role of journalists have been undervalued in the country ditto Ogun state,” he noted, adding that, “nevertheless, we will do our best to create a sane environment for the growth and development of the Council.”

 

 

Mrs Yinka Olukoya, the state correspondent for Nigerian Tribune would serve as the secretary of the committee, while Yemi Dalemo, Folake Adeniji, Gbenga Oniyide, Niyi Akinbobola and Bola Adeyemi were named as members.
