Following the deadline by Ogun State Government that all non-sporting activities at the MKO Abiola International Stadium be shut down with immediate effect, owners of mobile and erected shops have started moving their valuables out of the premise.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Mr. Afolabi Afuape while monitoring the situation this morning at the MKO Stadium Kuto Abeokuta, said the notice given to them expired today.

He said that the state government was worried about the rate at which crime was fast growing at the premise coupled with teenage prostitution and hard drugs hawkers, saying that the sanitization was coming at the right time and in the interest of the state.

“Government is very worried about the high rate of teenage prostitution, drugs hawkers and the noise pollution emanating from within the premise which lead to the action being taken.

“Even as the state government regrets any incovineinces that the action may cause for those having their legitimate business over there, I want to say that the decision taken is in the interest of the good people of Ogun State,” Commissioner said.
