The new Olugbon of Orile Igbon, HRH Oba Francis Also, on Tuesday, paid a royal visit to the graveside of the late former Premier of the defunct Western Region, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola in Ogbomosho.
Oba Alao, who was on the visit with his Olori and some Palace chiefs, told Global Excellence that the visit was necessary and in accordance with the Yoruba tradition of giving honour to whom honour is due.
“I’m here to pay homage to one of the great men of history in Orile-Igbon, Oyo kingdom and Nigeria as a whole. After God, I have to acknowledge the contributions of my predecessors and ancestors to the development of Orile-Igbon in particular,” says the monarch who was received with fanfare at the Akinbola family house where he blessed the family and prayers were also offered for his successful reign.
Oba Alao expressed to use his office to develop the historical town and his subjects while he promised to work in concert with other members of the ruling house and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi, to further promote harmony and peaceful co-existence among the people.
