One of the new age-groups in Ijebuland, Egbe Bobadega Okunrin Akile Ijebu (Iwajowa Ni Itesiwaju), has suspended its secretary, Oluwatobi Ibraheem Obabi and three other members for offences ranging from age falsification, anti-group activities and non-compliance with the codes of conduct of the group.

In a press release jointly signed and made available to Gateway Times Nigeria by the group coordinator, Mr. Olatunbosun Oreagba, and the image-maker of the group’s disciplinary committee, Osibowale Stephen Seun respectively on Thursday, July 2, 2020, the group said that the suspension of the erring members was with immediate effect.

The suspended secretary was alleged not to be within the age-group (1983, 84, 85) as required by tradition and approval by the paramount ruler and Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona but for which he was said submitted conflicting documents, which led to the investigation of his particulars by a commiitee of the age-group.

The group disclosed further that during findings, Mr Obabi’s certificate revealed that he was born in 1985 in his primary school document submitted, while the secondary school documents revealed that he was born in 1986. As a result of the disparity, Obabi was suspended.

Besides, Obabi was accused of disregarding the group by floating a parallel age-group rather than showing remorse for his offense, while he wrote to the original age-group’s bank never to transact business with its leadership claiming that the head of the group had been suspended.

Other members of the group accused of anti-group activities and sanctioned alongside Obabi are, Jamiu Rufai Magbadun, Kazeem Yekini otherwise known as ‘Fire’, and Alhaji Wasiu Jimoh Shebe.

The group noted that the entire sons and daughters of Ijebuland have been notified about the development while a letter has also been sent to the Police Area Command, Igbeba, as well as the group’s bankers.
