When did you start acting?
I started my acting with Mr. Latin group in 2007. I
graduated from the group in 2013, and since then I’ve been on my own
Do you have role models in the industry?A- I have a lot of role models, yes. I look up to Funke Akindele, she has always inspired me, and Omoni Oboli.
Please, share the challenges that confronted you while growing as an actress.
In any endeavour, there are challenges. But every challenge is a lesson and blessing, depending on how you handle it.
Tell us about your first movie role?
My first movie role happened in ‘Alapa Stainless’ produced by Mr Latin. He acted as my big brother and I was Saheed Balogun’s girlfriend in the movie. The experience was an eye-opener for me. Thank God for the opportunity.
Why are you called Arike Gold?
Arike Gold is a concept; it’s a brand, the name of my movie outfit. People should watch out for more interesting movies from the stable. By 2018, I have a plan to start a theatre training group.
How many movies have you featured in and how many have you produced?
I have featured in more than 30 movies. There is Olowolayemo, Baba
Gomina, Ipilese, Bibitayo, Ayonitemi, Fayeyemi, Orisun, Iriri Mi,
Talofeeku, and so on. I have personally produced one movie titled ‘Ike’ (blessing). It is coming out soon.
You started acting in Abeokuta, why did you move to Lagos permanently?
I had my childhood in Abeokuta, I schooled there. But I decided
to move to Lagos because of my career. Lagos is the hub and I hoped to start a new life in Lagos, though I’m a proud ambassador of Abeokuta (laughs).
Is it true there are cliques in Nollywood?
I’m not aware and I don’t belong in any clique. Everybody is my friend.
Are you dating Pasuma?
(laughter). That’s funny question. Alhaji Pasuma is a respected Fuji musician, he is also an actor. I don’t think he even knows me in person.
What about Seun, a journalist?
(cuts in)…if it’s the Seun I have in mind, he is just a friend. He is a journalist and blogger and he is my very good friend. No strings attached.
How do you spend your leisure?
I go out with my friends to cinemas. I like watching movies.
