The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, says his grouse with the Bauchi State governor, Mohammed Abubakar, was because of inability of the administration to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

Speaking during an interview with newsmen in his office on Tuesday, Dogara said:

“I will never support a situation where we’re not delivering the goods. That’s just where the problem is.

“Anybody who’s delivering, who’s fulfilling is my wonderful person, but if you’re not doing that, I cannot be party to it so that when the destruction comes as it is certain to come, I’ll be excluded.

“And that is the problem we are having; it’s not a matter of personality clash or people don’t want to work together. I can work with anyone whose agenda is the welfare and advancement of the people, but if it’s not being done then there’s no point pretending that we’re doing anything,” he said.

Dogara also said his keeping away from Bauchi State was not “political exile”, adding that “I can go home any day, anytime that I like. I went home in December and very soon I’m going home. So I want to use this medium to announce to everybody that I’m going home. Those who think I’m already on political exile that is not the case at all.”
