It was a day of joy, fun and enthusiasm as the publisher of Momentous, a celebrity magazine, Mr. Sesan Awobiye, won the ‘Best Photojournalist of the Year’ category from a Nigerian multinational company, Nestle Foods Limited.
The colourful and well attended event ceremony took place today at the corporate head office of Nestle Nigeria Limited situated in Ilupeju Town, Mushin, Lagos.
The award ceremony which was the maiden edition had six different categories which are; Best Story on Nutrition and Affordable Solution, Best Story on Environment Sustainability, Best Story on Community Development, Best Story on Women Development, Best Story on Youth Empowerment and Best Photojournalist of the Year, respectively.
Sesan Awobiye who was nominated among three others won the second runner up as the best photojournalist of the year.
According to Awobiye, “this is not just an award but a special recognition to me. I want to specially thank the management of Nestle Nigeria Limited for deeming it fit to come up with this wonderful success story as I dedicate the award to my awesome and beautiful wife, Hon. (Mrs.) Olabisi Awobiye, for her upright support and undiluted love for me and our children who all have been making the job smooth for me.
In her welcome address, head of corporate communications, Nestle Nigeria Limited, Mrs. Victoria Uwadoka, told the gathering that the award is all about appreciating journalists. “You have been celebrating us for many years, it’s time we celebrate you also and that is why we came up with this award to reward you and don’t forget everybody here today is going to be a winner.”
Nestle Foods Limited management later presented the winner, Mr, Sesan Awobiye, with an award plaque, a Samsung Galaxy A02 phone, a suregift card and other Nestle products.
