Ogun state Police Command says it has arrested a 70-year old man, Sunday Tugbobo, for allegedly defiling two underage girls “after luring them with mince pie” in Ijebu-Ode.
In a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta, on Thursday by the Command’s Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, it said the septuagenarian was arrested followiing a complaint by the father of one of the victims, John Oru.
And upon his arrest and interrogation, the suspect was said to have confessed that he committed the crime.
“He (suspect) also admitted that he lured the two minors to his room with mince-pie at different time where he had carnal knowledge of them,” Oyeyemi said.
He disclosed that the victims had been taken to Ijebu-Ode general hospital for medical examination.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
