From an unusual domain came an appeal for peace over the security challenges presently facing Nigeria. Nollywood star actress, Liz Anjorin, Friday

Liz Anjorin

, made the call to President Muhammadu Buhari and influential Nigerians to find a common ground as the search for peace among the nation’s tribes continues.

Anjorin who also runs an elite boutique in Lagos, specially urged the president to initiate dialogue with the opposition in order for the country to have peace.

“It is my considered opinion that President Buhari should do more in the search for peace. What I mean by doing more is for him to go into dialogue with members of the opposition. These are the people his anti-corruption fight is targeted at, no doubt,” she said in an exclusive chat with Global Excellence magazine this evening.

The thespian added that while she was not calling for the release of anyone who has genuinely defrauded the country by stealing the people’s money, she would rather the president allow the judiciary to play more roles in handling such cases.

“I’m not a politician, but it is being said that a supposed offender is innocent until proven otherwise by a competent court of law. Who knows, those causing all these troubles may be angry with the president for his anti-corruption stance. In all, I want to believe that we can achieve peace by talking to one another.”

“I’m a fan of the President. In fact, I have no choice than to show him respect as my president whether I like him or not. Besides, if these crises degenerate into an uncontrollable situation, millions of Nigerians have no means of leaving the country. To the glory of God, I have papers that can take me out of the country in the event of a major crisis, and so for a few others. All those behind the troubles too can flee in the face of war, God forbid. But is the case the same with millions of other fellow Nigerians? No. That’s why I say we must look for peace no matter what it may cost us,” says Liz who recalled her 21-year old experience in a peaceful Jos and wished the city returns to its old state.
