The River Bank Schools management, Victoria Island, Lagos, last week, marked its Literacy Week, which coincided with the World Reading Day, a day set aside to promote reading culture worldwide.
The day witnessed special visitation by renowned author and actor, Mr. Jonathan Meres, who took the opportunity to present some of his books to the Chairman of River Bank Schools, Dr. (Mrs.) Siju Iluyomade.
The school which has expanded steadily over the years with an outstanding reputation for achieving the best for its pupils, was in ecstatic mood as their CEO and Meres graced the august occasion.
During the visit, Iluyomade commended the teachers led by Mrs. Regina Jemide for their steadfastness while he praised the jubilant pupils for their brilliance and obedience.
Dr Iluyomade also used the opportunity to express the school’s appreciation to the 62 year-old Nottingham-born author for his visit and the books.
”Literacy is the basic currency of knowledge. A child who reads will be an adult who thinks. Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today,” she noted.
With excellence in running creche, nursery, primary and secondary schools, River Bank Schools provides a breath of opportunities in which children can develop their own individual talents and attain their full potential within a very strong and supportive framework.
