The Director of Communications and Strategy for the Ladi Adebutu Campaign organization, Omooba Segun Adewale, has expressed optimism regarding candidacy of the party’s flagbearer for the 2023 governorship election in Ogun state, Dr Oladipupo Adebutu.

Adewale, a seasoned marketing communication expert made this assertion known on Thursday while fielding questions from some selected journalists including the publisher of veracitydesk.com.ng at Yewa-South, Ogun State, adding that all supporters of Adebutu and the good people of Ogun State should remain calm, assuring them that the Appeal Court will rule in favour of Adebutu.

Reacting to the judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta on Tuesday, September 27, which nullified all the primary elections conducted by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Adewale stated that there is no cause for alarm, maintaining that Adebutu’s legal team have perfected their superior arguments that will positively change the narrative in due course.

He, however, seeks more unity among members of the party in order to give room for more peace within the party.

He said:

“Ogun PDP in line with party’s extant rules had on May 25, 2022 conducted the primary election which produced our visionary leader, Dr Ladi Adebutu as the governorship standard bearer of the party, therefore there is no basis for argument or dissatisfaction from any members who are truly patriotic, the party is bigger than anyone and our constitution is sacrosanct. Committed members must always learn to respect the spirit of sportsmanship no matter how tough the situation seems, it is never a sign of weakness.”

He continued, “It is really unbelievable to see some of the chieftains of our party approaching the Court to challenge our party, the flagbearer himself (Adebutu), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on grounds of authenticity of the delegates lists used for the conduct of the primaries. Such position and other defective prayers are baseless and lack merit to say the least. My joy however is that the judiciary will serve the matter with unbiased verdict in the interest of democracy and good governance.

“It is very clear now that our opponents are jittery, afraid of the rising profile of the PDP in the state and particularly our candidate, Adebutu, hence they are doing everything possible to cause confusion and to distract the voting demographics. Therefore all loyal members of our party must sheathe their swords, work for the unity of the party such that landslide victory could be recorded in 2023. This is an opportunity we must never miss in Ogun State and I assure everyone that Adebutu has that matrix that could help record victory for our party in the state” he said.

He further implored members to come together to play a decent politics in order to enjoy the dividend of democracy, he advised the members and supporters to come together and focus to put the party as the credible alternative for the citizens of Ogun state and Nigeria at large towards the success of the party during the 2023 election.

“I assure all our supporters that their prayers are tremendously impacting positively. I also urge them not to relent in prayers nor despair our principal, because it will surely end in victory very soon. I must also commend everyone for their extraordinary show of discipline, courage and selflessness thus far, and appeal to them all to keep up the good work as victory is gathering momentum for Adebutu, just as his candidacy stands valid,” Adewale said.
