Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly,  Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu  has asked  monarchs in the state  not to indulge  corrupt Kwarans who may want to seek a place of refuge and plead with  them to intervene in an attempt to escape from  paying for their corrupt practices.  The Speaker who is an indigene of Gwanara, Baruten local government stated this when he  visited   monarchs in his local government to seek royal blessings.  ‘There is no way we can bring good governance and dividends of democracy to the grassroots without sanitizing the system.

The state is losing huge resources to ghost workers,  wage bill takes almost 80 per cent of our federal allocations and we cannot sanitize the system without stepping on toes. They will start running to you once they are caught but as our fathers, please rebuke them whenever they come. They are sabotaging our developmental strides’, he said.  Danladi also promised not to fail the youth in the country as one of their ambassadors in government.

‘I cannot afford to fail, my failure is not Danladi’s failure, and it would mean failure for my generation. I am prepared to do all within my capacity to ensure the youth constituency which I represent does not fail but your support and prayers are needed for us to succeed’, he said.   Emir of Ilesha-Baruba, Professor Halidu Abubakar  and the Emir of  Yashikira, Alhaji Umar Seriki Usman in their separate remarks urged  the Speaker  to be sincere and responsive to the yearnings of the people  in order to gain public trust.

The monarchs warned sternly against arrogance in power and urged political office holders to hold the people in high esteem.  ‘Once you are sincere and you show serious commitment to the plight of the people, they will have confidence in you’,  Prof. Halidu said.

Emir of Gwanara, Alh. Sabi Idris who lamented the absolute neglect of Gwanara district  asked  Danladi to bridge what he referred to as  huge infrastructural deficit. Also speaking, the Emir of Okuta, Alh. Idris Abubakar lauded the Speaker for his humility and asked him and other legislators  to be disciplined,  a trait the monarch noted he had already  seen  in the Speaker.

He advised the current administration in the state not to be distracted by politics, but rather concentrate on governance and show the people that change has truly come. The Speaker also visited  the  village heads of Boriya, Sankparu and Ningurme. He was also at the palace of the Lafia of  Sinaya and he equally visited some among the party elders in the local government area.
