Kwara state government on the watch of Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has  carried out a transparent bidding process for the  renovation of  public schools. About 115 local contractors took part in a transparent and competitive bidding process in Ilorin, the bidding process  was witnessed by media practitioners and contractors.
It  was done following   directives by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq that the award of government contracts must be subjected to the public procurement process. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mariam Garba, noted that the first phase of the project involves eight first generation schools that will undergo comprehensive renovation.
Twenty three others will according to her have their classrooms and offices renovated and basic infrastructure supplied in order to make learning conducive. The cost of the projects that will be executed under 34 lots amounts to N2,004,205,641.01.
‘The process is transparent. We all saw the opening of the bid.  The technical and financial bids were opened in our presence and as far as we are concerned it was transparent. We have the assurance from the Permanent Secretary that everybody will be equally treated.
We want to thank the government for patronizing the indigenous contractors because it has its own merits. An indigenous contractor who wins any of the lots will engage artisans, local drivers, suppliers and the likes, and these people make the bulk of our population in Kwara’ Maroof Ahmed, Secretary of the Kwara State Indigenous Contractors  said.
