Ahead of the elections, Kwara State governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed  said last week that considering what he had seen so far and  the way his  party, the PDP  has conducted its campaigns in the state and across the country ,  the party , is  according to him, confident of recording  election victory .  Governor Ahmed who made the submission while speaking with reporters at the campaign field at Bode Saadu had earlier asserted at the palace of the Ohoro of Shao, Alhaji Bamidele Adegbite that ensuring the emergence of the PDP guber candidate, Hon. Razak Atunwa as his successor remains the best option for the people of the state as it would result in a secured future for the state of harmony.

The governor asked the people of the state not to entertain any  fear wherever there are ongoing projects  or where new projects may be possibly initiated as he is confident that there would be no cause for alarm as such projects would definitely be pursued to completion stage with Atunwa as his successor.  The governor who led the PDP Campaign Team to Moro local government also submitted that PDP gubernatorial hopeful remains the best among all the governorship candidates cognizant of his breadth of experience.   ‘No other governorship candidate can boast of the rich experience Atunwa has had in the executive and the legislative arms of government.  You don’t need to entertain fear about anything, he knows the terrain, he knows how to source for funds and knows how to get things done for the betterment of the people’, he said. While blaming the challenges faced in the last three years on the shortfall in the federal allocation to the states and local government councils in the country, Ahmed, however,  promised to clear the salary arrears of monarchs in the state anytime soon.

Addressing party members and supporters at Olooru and Bode Saadu, PDP gubernatorial candidate, Hon.Razak Atunwa promised to ensure that indigenous contractors are accorded priority in the implementation of government programmes if elected governor in the forthcoming election. He also stated that getting that done has become imperative in order to ensure that local businesses are brought into the mainstream of government programmes through patronage.

‘You are all in politics because it ought to yield something back to you in return and the only way we can achieve this is to ensure that we patronize you, the local contractors. So under our administration we will ensure that we do that, we will give jobs to the local contractors who have the capacity for excellent work’, he said. Atunwa, who promised to run a people-oriented government also lamented the rate of unemployment among the youths across the country, stating that he has put in place strategic intervention mechanism to reduce the rate of youth unemployment in Kwara State.  Also speaking with newsmen, PDP Kwara North senatorial candidate, Hon. Zakari Mohammed, emphasized the need for the people of the state to ensure they vote for all PDP candidates, noting that it is safer to be with a group of people they have interacted with for years and are approachable rather than gambling their future with those he referred to as strange faces.
