Keyamo Urges Pay-TVs to Offer Viewers 30 Days Free Subscription

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN Fciarb (UK) has urged the management of direct broadcast station, DSTV and StarTimes to smile on the faces of Nigerians most especially their teeming customers by offering a free 1-month subscription as a way of alleviating the pains of the masses during these trying times.

According to Tunde Moshood, his special assistant on media and communications, Keyamo whose Ministry is one of the federal government agencies elected by President Mohammadu Buhari to oversee the Economic Sustainability Committee made the call on his Twitter handle, @fkeyamo.

The minister also urged major telecommunication companies in Nigeria to follow suit by making available free data and call credits to help them stay connected to their loved ones as well as supporting the fight against the novel scourge, Covid-19 ravaging the world.

According to him, God must have allowed the terrible virus, Covid-19 to afflict the human race as a way of reminding us on the need to redirect our steps back to him.

“We have so distorted God’s Words to suit our own human weaknesses and satisfy our greed, even in supposed Holy Places”, he twitted.

The Economic Sustainability Committee led by the Vice President and which includes Ministers of Finance, Budget and Planning; Industry, Trade and Investment; *Labour*; Petroleum Resources – state; CBN Governor, GMD NNPC, with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation as Secretary is to take care of the economic challenges and fallouts of the pandemic and consequential restrictions.

Besides developing further palliatives, the committee will also develop a sustainability plan on repositioning the economy and growing the non-oil sector.
