Islamic Singer, Rukayat Gawat, Set To Be Honoured By City People

A famous female Islamic singer, Alhaja Rukayat Gawat-Oyefeso, will, onSaturday, June 30th 2018, be honoured in Lagos.

 

According to a statement, the management of City People magazine, on the stable of their City People Entertainment, will host in a lavish bash the celebrity artiste that day which coincidentally is her next birthday while she will also also hosted for on welcome dance  from lesser Hajj. The event will take place at City People events centre, Gbagada.

Speaking about the aims of the event, the publisher of City People, Dr. Seye Kehinde, “we are celebrating Rukayat Gawat for her continuous contribution to the emerging growth of  Islamic music in the entertainment industry, as she has been the only artiste in her genre that has ever won our ‘Artiste of the Year’ award, back-to-back, and she has not relented in her effort. This is the only way to appreciate and encourage her to do more.”

Recalling, Rukayat Gawat won the 2016 and 2017 ‘Best Islamic Artiste of the Year’ awards at the City People Music Awards. She has produced many albums among which are; ‘Aye Le’, ‘My Father’, ‘Imole’, ‘Arinakore’, ‘Oba Nl’a’, ‘Ijo Ope’, ‘Temitope’.

 

“She has also done collaboration efforts with other Islamic artistes and Fuji musicians. These include ‘Alao Jowujowu’, ‘Odun Ayo’, ‘Ogbe Okan’, ‘Eto Obirin’, ‘Agbokol’ori’, ‘Iyawo Obun’, to mention a few. She also has some yet to be released jobs like ‘Ododo Eye’, ‘Igba Tiwa’, among others, while she is currently in the studio working on her next album, entitled ‘My Time’, which will be out soon and marketed by Okiki Films and Productions. In tow, her yearly all-embracing event, ‘Imole Day’, is already in the making, which ‘is being prepared specially to honour Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” the statement reads.
