Emirate councils in Katsina State have called for low-keyed Sallah celebrations owing to security challenges. Many Muslim faithful especially in the northern part of the country look forward to every Sallah.

Visits to places of interest, new dresses and durbars are associated with such festivities. Regally dressed traditional title holders with well decorated horses and retinue of followers are usually part of a celebration. But few days to Sallah, such frenzy will be not, at least, for now.
However, the spate of insecurity in Katsina State as in other parts of the country has been of great worry to Governor Aminu Masari. He chairs the security committee of the Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) aimed at holistically looking at better approaches to check insecurity in the north. But, the security issues had scuttled some anticipated funfair in the state.
For instance, the proposed second tenure inauguration activities of Governor Masari were solemn after an elaborate swearing in was planned with an 18-member committee in place.
In fact, both Katsina and Daura emirate councils had cancelled any elaborate Sallah festivity. Last Monday, Daura Emirate said it has suspended all festivities at the forth coming Eid-el Fitr celebration over incessant bandit attacks and kidnapping happening across the state.
The Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk, in a statement signed by Abdulmumini Salihu for the Danejin Daura, said aside the Eid prayer, no other durbar or festivities shall be observed at the emirate. However, special prayers have been directed to be offered at all five daily prayer and Jummat mosques across the emirate for peace.
The Katsina Emirate Council earlier suspended all festivities during the Sallah in view of the ongoing attacks by bandits across the state. In fact, all funfairs including the flambouyant durbar procession and other festivities associated with Sallah celebration are cancelled.
