As President Muhammadu Buhari today met with a 10-man delegation of the Senate over the tussle between Senate President Bukola Saraki and Inspector General of the Police Ibrahim Idris, eyebrows were raised over the absence of Senator Oluremi Tinubu in the team.

The meeting, which took place at the president’s office inside the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja, started around 1:00pm and ended before 4pm, according to sources.

Meanwhile, those that should know are saying that Senator Tinubu backed out of the trip at the last minutes.

It is recalled that, Senator Tinubu, it was, during the issue of Senator Dino Melaye versus the police, who championed the need to meet with the president for solution in such cases. This was why sources said the wife of the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was considered to be in the committee to represent the Senate president at Aso Rock.

Her absence was premised on ‘purely politics’, in the words of an insider.

“Did you see Saraki who was originally meant to lead the team in the delegation?,” asked the source, who added that the same reason formed Senator Tinubu’s absence.

The Senate president had last week told his colleagues that the IGP had transferred some criminal suspects being interrogated in Kwara Sate to Abuja to make statements to frame  him up.

Those present are Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan, Chief Whip Olusola Adeyeye, Minority Leader Godswill Akpabio, Danjuma Goje, Sam Anyanwu, Aliyu Wammako and Fatima Raji-Rasaki.
