Going by information at our disposal, the days of Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, former media aide of the erstwhile Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, may have been numbered. It was being rumoured some days back that she may be removed from her current office as acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

It does not stop there, the man who would be taking up her post, sources regaled, is no other than Hon. Dakuku Peterside, another Amaechi’s close associate who recently lost his bid to be governor of Rivers State on the APC platform via the Supreme Court ruling.

A reliable source that was privy to a meeting held by APC chieftains in Abuja two weeks ago, said that the issue was discussed at length how to compensate Dakuku for his loss at the court.

Members who supported his choice, according to the source, had argued that Dakuku should be given the NNDC office so he could recoup his huge investment which went down with the governorship loss.

It would be recalled that, Supreme Court upheld the election of Nyesom Wike as Governor of Rivers State, thereby putting a spanner in the well-orchestrated plans of the APC candidate to become governor.

Meanwhile, an NNDC director in charge of project management, one Mr. Roberts Obuoha, was arrested a few days ago for allegedly offering bribe to EFCC operatives. The embattled director was said to be under investigation by the commission as we write this piece.

Obbuoha was allegedly nabbed while attempting to bribe the EFCC South- South Zonal Head, Mr. Ishag Salihu with N150, 000.
