Hon Sanya Omirin Receives NUJ Award

Osun State PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Hon  Sanya Omirin has been honoured with award by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State chapter.

Omirin was penultimate Thursday honoured at the Dinner and Awards ceremony organized by the Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists , NUJ  at the Leisure Spring Hotel, Osogbo. It was part of series of events and programmes for the 2021 Press Week.

Giving his acceptance speech after receiving the  award, Omirin urged the media to maintain a high level of professionalism, accuracy and impartiality in their coverage.
While emphasizing the need to ensure impartial news coverage, he also asked journalists to guide electors in ‘making right decision’.

The PDP gubernatorial aspirant received ‘Outstanding Political Mobilizer’ Award at the awards ceremony.

Omirin , who noted that he was happy and grateful to the Osun NUJ for considering him worthy of the award also called NUJ a respected professional association while adding that he values the award.

Spokesperson for the Nigerian Senate, Senator Basiru Ajibola, Osun State police commissioner, Mr.  Taoheed Olawale Olokode and Mrs. Ayobola Peller were among the award recipients.

Dignitaries at the event include Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation,  Mrs. Funke Egbemode, Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s Special Adviser on Political Matters, Chief Sunday Akere,  the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ismail Omipidan,  Asiwaju of Ijesha land, Chief Yinka Fasuyi, who was the chairman of the occasion, Aloko of Iloko-Ijesha, Oba Akeem Ogungbamgbe, Alatorin of Atorin Ijesha, Oba Omololu Afilaka,  Mrs. Fausat Sarumi Adebanjo who served as  Commissioner for Women Affairs  during the Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration and Governor Oyetola’s Special Assistant on Student Affairs, Comrade Kehinde Ayantuji.
