Information from insiders suggests that Governor Ibikunle Amosun may have dumped his anointed governorship candidate that will succeed him in 2019. Until now, the governor is said to have settled for his newly appointed Chief of Staff, Mr. Tolu Odebiyi. But feelers from his close associates indicate that the governor is still keyed into Yewa agenda, he is looking elsewhere for whom to hand over to. At a recent meeting with some political jobbers in the state, the governor is said to be considering either a former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Iziaq Akinlade or his current Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning. As the race is getting tense, Amosun may also be considering the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, who is from Yewa, a zone that never had the opportunity to rule the 41-year-old state. After attempting to sell the candidature of Sokefun to Yewa people, whom they say is a woman failed, the name of the speaker subsequently resurfaced as an alternative in the meantime. The speaker is also not enjoying the popularity among his people; many of them are of the belief that he may not be generally acceptable to others. Others have also accused him of neither being mature enough nor having any leadership structure.

….. Still on Governor Amosun, a gist merchant made it known that after the presentation of three candidates by Governor Amosun, the governor has extended gestures to other candidates in the zone. Some of those on the waiting list of the governor are the 2015 People’s Democratic Party governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Akinlade.
