Glo Treats Abuja To Superlative Night Of Laughter

Nigeria’s biggest comedy brand, Glo Laffta Fest held in Abuja on Sunday with thousands of Federal Capital city residents storming the Old Parade Ground in Garki, to enjoy an evening of fun and endless laughter.

 

Residents started arriving the venue of the show by early afternoon to secure a vantage position ahead of the event which brought Nigerians of all ages, classes and political persuasions in and around Abuja together under one roof.

 

 

The Glo Laffta Fest lived up to the billing, as it generated excitement around the city and environ and was the subject of discussion among fun seekers in Abuja before and after the show which the residents enjoyed thoroughly.

 

The show kicked off with performance of Osama, the Jos-based comedian whose joke about life in the militarised city of Jos kept the audience laughing.

 

 

Next was MC Tagwaye, the comedian who mimics President Mohammadu Buhari. His jokes centred around the socio-political condition of the country raised the tempo of the show and electrified the venue.

 

 

It was however his spontaneity and quick wit during the question and answer session that got him a loud ovation. Responding to questions on how his administration would address the issue of witches and wizards flying at night, he stated that the matter would be addressed by his Minister of Aviation, getting the audience roaring with laughter.

 

Dan the Humorous, the garden city-based comedian was the next on stage and the audience enjoyed his fast-paced jokes which centred mostly on health and care-giving institutions, especially teaching hospitals.

 

Salvador from Uganda took over from Dan the Humorous and delighted the audience with his own style of jokes in which he  humorously compare reactions of the authorities to suicidal people in  his Country, Uganda and in the advanced countries.

 

 

The evening also featured other top comedians like I Go Dye, Gordons, Bovi and Basketmouth who all thrilled the crowd with rib-cracking jokes.

 

 

 

Speaking at the event, Mr. Kazeem Kaka, Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, Abuja, said that Globacom packaged the show to reward its subscribers for standing by the brand over the years.

 

 

 

He added that 25 cities including Awka, Ikeja, Ikorodu, FESTAC , Ajah, Owerri; Asaba; Calabar; Enugu; Aba; Suleja, Kubwa, FCT, Ibadan; Ijebu Ode; Abeokuta; Ekpoma; Kaduna; Akure; Lokoja; and Anyigba will host the show in the next six months.

 

 

The trio of Eunice Nkwocha, Ijeh Joy and Favour Solomon emerged winners during a dance competition organized during the show.

 

 

There was also celebrity appearance by Nollywood stars, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Kanayo O. Kanayo and Patience Ozokwor, popularly known as Mama G.

 

 

Enugu is the next destination of the much sought-after show. Those wishing to attend the show are expected to use up to N2,000 credit within one month and text LOL and preferred location to short code 240; for example, “LOL Enugu to 240”.
