Wednesday, the 26th of June 2019 is yet another day the community-based Non-Governmental Organization, ‘Never Say Never Foundation’, has set aside for achieving another of its numerous goals.

The date which coincides with commemoration of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, was set to host not less than 400 students to a day symposium, dissecting and brainstorming on the theme, ‘A Life Without Drug Addiction’.

The participants who are expected to be selected from various secondary schools across Ikorodu division, will converge in a hall and be taken through series of reorientation, education, enlightenment, sensitization and motivation by experienced guest speakers drafted from different societal backgrounds.

According to a statement signed by the Project Coordinator, Olayinka Shojupe, the one day symposium is aimed to ‘programme’ the minds of the younger ones to work against abusive or reckless use of drugs, either recommended or self-adopted. The release states further that “we firmly believe this symposium will go a long way in keeping the youths away from becoming negative influences to the growth and development of the great division”.

The organizer adds that plans are ongoing to ensure that the symposium is not only an engaging one for participants but its resultant effects would also be positively felt by all and sundry across Ikorodu division.

The symposium is slated to hold at the multipurpose hall of Oriwu Model College, Ikorodu by 10am.

Expected to engage participants at the symposium as speakers are Comrade Ohi Obadan, Mrs. Kikelomo Sowemimo, Dr. Nonso (Aproko doctor)
