A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rotimi Mikail Makinde submitted ahead of Senator Iyiola Omisore’s formal registration as APC member a few days ago  that  the development was a pleasing piece of news.

Makinde and Omisore are both indigenes of Ile-Ife.

The former reps member in a piece titled ‘GLORIOUS WELCOME AWAITS SENATOR IYIOLA OMISORE AS HE FORMALIZES HIS MEMBERSHIP OF APC’ had also described the senator as one who has been a valuable asset to the state APC.

‘For those who have been following the body language of our esteemed brother and one of the greatest politicians in Osun State, the amiable political  Jungnu , an illustrious son of Ile -Ife,  a former deputy governor,  former Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation;  the Apeesin Oodua, Senator Christopher Iyiola Omisore, I deciphered quite often that he may likely dump SDP like hot potato to pitch his tent with  the All Progressives Congress, (APC), with the intent to join in  building a virile, strong, united and prosperous nation and indeed, the State of Osun and Ile- Ife, that we all can be proud of.

Otunba Omisore was indeed one of the greatest achievers that was instrumental in the emergence of the current administration in the state. After participating  in the gubernatorial election,  he   later collapsed his political  structure by way of coalition to ensure   election victory  for Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

It is a well-known fact that the ever- progressive mind of Engineer  Iyiola Omisore would readily align with any person or party championing the progress of the state and indeed, the country.

This he found in APC, my party and your party.

In his latest interview he said :   ‘ Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola is today making us proud by simply adhering to all those gentleman agreement and promises he made to the people of Osun State and in so doing, he is winning my heart’ .

Senator Iyiola Ajani Omisore was born into a royal family in Ile-Ife,  Osun State on 15 September 1957.  Ile-Ife is the cradle of the Yoruba race.

He is the grandson of Loowa Omisore and his father is Oba David Olajide Omisore of Ayepe, Olode, Ile-Ife.

Senator Omisore is also the grandson of the Late Olufewara Kabiyesi, Oba Titus Adetoba of the Oseganderuku ruling house in Ifewara where his mother, Princess Emila Adejola ruled as a Regent until her death in 2006.

Iyiola  was raised  in Ile-Ife in a very large and extended family where diligence, integrity and community service were part of both his heritage and leadership responsibility as royalty.

His parents were devout Christians and members of the SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Lagere, Ile- Ife. Iyiola served as an altar boy to the priests, learning both the values of giving as well as tolerance for all religions and people.

It was at this point that Iyiola started demonstrating the qualities of forthrightness; keen intellect and uprightness which not only set him apart from his peers but also prepared him for community leadership and service.

Otunba Omisore is such a great asset to any party and he is such a person that is ever committed to finding ways to improve development of Yorubaland.

‘All Yoruba indigenes should go back to the core values of the Yoruba people  which emphasize  more on honesty, love, reputation and good names instead of wealth and fame’ Omisore, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers, England and Wales, said.

As a distinguished Yoruba man whose impacts have been felt in various towns in Yorubaland, Omisore has in his kitty different chieftaincy titles, all conferred on him by the kings of these towns in appreciation of what he has done to support community development and strengthen the contributions of traditional systems to public governance and order. The prolific engineer and politician holds  the following  chieftaincy titles :

Apesin Oodua of the Source

High Chief Lisa of Osogboland

Bashorun of Ijeshaland

Asiwaju Balogun of Ibadanland

Akinrogun of Edeland

Maiyegun of Ijero Kingdom

Seriki of Usi Ekiti

Agbaakin of Ila Orangun

Ashipa of Inisha Kingdom

Otunba of Ipetu Modu

Akinrogun of Ede

Otunba of Odo-Eku.

The recognition of his community service, traditional actions and philanthropy are not limited to Yoruba land.

Dr. Iyiola Omisore has  also been honoured with the title of    ‘Zege Huror u Kwande man ishan na’    by  the Kwande people of Benue State.

Senator Omisore  has finally returned  to the party he helped in no small measure to build  as one of its  founders.

No doubt, his coming puts final touches to the success story of the progressive party.
