Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Moshood Mustapha has defended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and asserted that he did not misappropriate funds meant to finance election in Kwara State during the 2019 general election.

Global Excellence learned that allegations and counter allegations of misappropriation of funds began a few days ago following the comments made by  Governor Abdulrazaq which sought to revisit the roles played by some political leaders in the state during the  2019 general election and had accused some among them of taking sole decisions on how funds made available to the state were utilized.

Spokesman for the Bashir Bolarinwa Omolaja-led faction of the state APC, Alhaji Abdul-Rahoof Bello had, however, on Tuesday, asked that Gov Abdukrazaq should account for N1 billion he allegedly collected from the national headquarters of the APC.

The former federal lawmaker told journalists on Friday that the governor did not misappropriate the election fund but that rather its distribution to stakeholders was supervised by himself, the state APC Chairman, Hon. Bashir Bolarinwa and the then guber candidate; Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

‘I am not even sure the money was up to N1 billion in the first place and considering the template given for sharing it, it was not possible for anybody to convert the money to personal use’, he said.

Moshood added that after the primary elections in 2019, BOB invited him to the Svannah Hotel, Ilorin where he told him that the money had arrived from Abuja.

‘We proceeded to party secretariat at Fate to constitute a committee for the sharing of the money for the election.

As directed by the APC national secretariat, the sharing committee comprised BOB, the Governor and myself’, he added.
