At least 84,000 indigenes of Kano State are to benefit from the Federal Government’s N20,000 palliative.

The National Coordinator of the Programme, Dr.Temitope Sinkaiye, who made the disclosure, explained that the sum of N1.6b would be shared to 84,000 beneficiaries from 15 Local Government Areas in Kano State.

According to her, out of the amount, each beneficiary will receive Twenty Thousand Naira during the exercise which commences on Monday (today).

Sinkaiye made the disclosure yesterday evening when she paid a visit to the Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.

She stated that since the beginning of the Programme, they had not faced any challenge of funding, as the Federal Government made adequate arrangements through a loan from the World Bank.

However, she added that each of the beneficiaries had to imbibe the culture of group savings and establish small scale businesses.

She further said due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were sensitizing the beneficiaries about the dreaded disease.

“We observe social distancing so that by the time they go back, they will guide other members of their community on how to protect themselves and stay healthy,” she said.

Responding, Kano State Deputy Governor, Dr.Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna commended the Federal Government for the laudable initiative, which he said would alleviate poverty, especially coming at the time the country was combating COVID-19 pandemic.

He also extolled the efforts of the National Cash Transfer Office for training the beneficiaries on how to tackle poverty.

Gawuna then assures of continued cooperation and support of Ganduje Administration to the Federal Government policies and programmes aimed towards enhancing the lives of the
