Fela’s Saxophonist, Y.S. Akinnibosi, Dies

 

Consummate musician, Y.S Akinibosun who has tasted virtually all genres of music before setting down with late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, where he became a celebrated saxophonist, has finally joined his ancestors.

The 76 year old performer transformed on March 14th in Lagos, according to his eldest son, Dele Akinibosun who made the sad news public.

Since his death, Afro – Beats cult followers have been mourning the gentleman and crack wind instrument player, acknowledged for his magnanimous spirit which may have encouraged him to help fellow musicians who need his services at a short notice, with considerate charges.

Aside from this spirit of kindness, Baba Y.S can hold his own on stage as an entertainer. That, he had done severally during his big time jamz witnessed by top showbiz stake holders like ex – PMAN president, Tee Mac who maintained that Baba Y.S as he was fondly addressed was an excellent performer.

The late musician will be formally laid to rest at Atan Cemetery, Yaba, Lagos, on April 29th, while his family, relatives, friends, colleagues and cross section of the Nigerian showbiz community would gather to socialize in his memory.
