Wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan, naturally loves investing her money in hospitality business. This is evident by the 2 billion naira Abuja based hotel seized from her sometime go by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the allegation of fraud but which was later returned to her after a court order.

Meanwhile, a reliable source has revealed to Global Excellence magazine that the former First Lady has expanded her business tentacle to include selling beverages in wholesale. The source that is close to the business told this magazine that Mrs. Jonathan started the soft drinks business while her husband was in office as president but it was not as expansive because, according to the source, “such business was not really her focus but running the hotel which turned in huge profits almost immediately.”

As the source informed Global Excellence magazine, Mrs. Jonathan’s new business has now been recapitalized with millions of dollars. It is not limited to beverages alone although beverages are the focus of the business, said the source, it also includes water, beer and a plethora of energy and sport drinks. Major soft drinks companies are said to be presently jostling for her attention.

The source confided in this reporter that, the former First Lady was only being smart with her resources because of the challenges her family have been facing in the hands of the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government which is all-out to recover money allegedly looted from the nation’s coffers while her family ran the country.

“I think she is just helping her family to stay afloat, financially. With their travails in the hands of the EFCC, the last thing they would want is for their income and the status they enjoy as a result, to be affected badly,” posits the source, adding that, rather than depending on a few streams of income, she was diversifying in order to make money in several different ways.
