Ernest Shonekan Death: Family Officially Notifies Alake-in-Council

As customs and tradition demands, the family of former head of Interim National Government (ING), Chief Ernest Shonekan on Tuesday officially informed the Alake -in- Council of Shonekan’s demise.

The eldest son, Adeboye Shonekan in company of Chiefs from his father country home, Itoko informed the council led by Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo in Ake palace.

He described his late father as a man of integrity, stating that Ernest Shonekan exemplifies decency, thorough religious man who lived his life as a mentor to others.

The eldest son added that the deceased would be solely missed.

He, however, said that the family is still consulting widely on his burial arrangements, adding that being an Egba high Chief, the Paramount ruler of the kingdom would be carried along.

Meanwhile, the Alake of Egbaland has described the death of Shonekan as a loss to the kingdom, the state and the country, saying that he was a never to be forgotten great son of the land.
