"Egbe Obayori, Portraying the Essence of Age-Group"  ...Awujale at Project Commissioning

The paramount ruler and Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona has charged age-groups in Ijebuland to continue to justify its existence by rendering communal development to the society, which he said was the basis of its birth.

 

 

Oba Adetona gave the advice on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the official commissioning of the renovated Male Medical Ward, State General, Hospital, Ijebu-Ode.

 

 

The multi-million-naira project valued at close to #15million was executed by Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu.

 

 

Awujale who was represented at the event by Dagburewe of Idowa, Oba Yinusa Adekoya described age-group, otherwise known as Regbregbe in Ijebuland as a communal gathering for the development of the society.

 

 

The monarch said the Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile-Ijebu from what they have exhibited comprises of eminent, growing and hardworking youth, and expressed his appreciation to them for assisting the health sector in Ogun State.

 

 

“What these young men have done is a landmark one and monumental in the history of Regberegbe. It is not easy to cough out such whopping amount for this kind of project during this economic meltdown. We thank them once again, and encourage others to do more”, Awujale added.

 

 

Meanwhile, in his opening remark, the head of the age-group, Giwa Adebayo Oshikomaiya, a lawyer & seasoned banker said the project was executed in line with the belief of its member to always give back to the society.

 

 

Giwa Adebayo disclosed that the project was funded by the 94-member age-group, which also include honourary chiefs, who according to him played a leading role in raising fund for the project.

 

He however thanked the paramount ruler and Awujale of Ijebuland for creating the enabling environment for the project to take as well as the Ministry of Health which gave the approval on which the Regberegbe acted on.

 

 

“The beauty of the project is that we involved our members who are electricians, tilers, bricklayers, carpenters, project supervisors and others to execute the project. And I am proud to say we have a better project at the end of it all”, Giwa Oshikomaiya said.

 

 

Top dignitaries at the project commissioning include Akija of Ikija, Oba Kayode Alakija, Ebumawe of Ago-Iwoye, Oba Abdulrasaq Adenuga, Elerunwon of Erunwon, Oba (Barr.) Okubena, Ajalaye of Ilugun South, Oba Olusaanu, Alaye Oba Aiyepe, Oba Sulaiman, Giwa Adebayo Odutayo,Asiwaju Taiwo Adeniji (the Baba Egbe of Egbe Obayori Okunrin Akile Ijebu), Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Ogun State on Health, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Chairman, Hospital Management Board, CMD State Hospital, Ijebu-Ode and many others.
