One of the Nigerian doctors, who treated President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf, has described his recovery as miraculous.
Dr. Biodun Ogungbo in an op-ed, expressed delight at Yusuf’s timely return to good health.
Ogungbo, a Consultant Neuro-Neuro-Surgeon, said he was recently honoured with , ‘The Gideon Award’  by women of the St Mathew’s Anglican Church in Maitama on Mother’s Day, for being part of the team that successfully managed the president son.
The First Son underwent surgery at Ceda-Crest Hospital Abuja before he was quietly flown to Germany for further treatment.
“It turns out I was the only male awardee. How embarrassingly delightful? The award was called, ‘The Gideon Award’ and apparently offered in light of the successful management of the President’s son, Yusuf Buhari, following his road traffic accident in December 2017.
“He has of course, made a miraculous recovery from his injuries and recently returned to the country following rehabilitation in Germany”, Ogungbo wrote.
“Truth be told, we were extremely lucky and blessed that Yusuf made a good recovery following what could easily have been a fatal accident.
“To be sure, it was a great opportunity for us to give glory to the Almighty God for sparing his life and then, glorifying our efforts in managing him in Nigeria.
” One should be grateful that God made it all end well. This therefore made the award a special one and an opportunity to give praise to God for healing Yusuf”, Ogungbo further stated.
Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari recently announced the return of her son.
The decision to move the only son of the Buharis without making it public, can be traced to earlier denials that he will not be taken overseas for medical care.
Yusuf, was involved in a bike crash on Tuesday 26 December, 2017 in Gwarimpa in the Federal Capital Territory, suffered injuries to the head and limb.
On Tuesday January 2 president of the Guild of Medical Directors, Prof. Femi Dokun-Babalola in a statement disclosed that Yusuf , who underwent brain surgery in  Abuja was  assessed to be stable.
“We thank God for the return of our son Yusuf today after his medical trip. On land at the airport he was received by the Minister of Health (State)  Dr. Osagie, while at the Villa he was welcomed by family members, Wife of the Vice President, the Interior minister”, Mrs Buhari had  tweeted.
