Weeks ago, Nigerian disc jockey DJ Cuppy announced that she was working on her debut EP, Original Copy.

Cuppy who is the energetic daughter of billionaire, Femi Otedola had the name of the project chosen by her fans in a Twitter poll after it got the highest number of votes.

At the time, she explained that she chose it based on its popularity among her fans and in keeping with her ‘oxymoron theme’.

“Final results! Over 9,000 of you voted… #OriginalCopy will be the official name of me debut EP to keep in line.”

Cuppy took to her Instagram story to thank music sensation Teni for her support when she (Cuppy) was working on Original Cuppy.

According to Cuppy, she received words of encouragement from Teni who revealed that she also had challenges while working on her first project.

The 27-year-old wrote:

“Just when I was giving up… Teni called me with the encouragement I needed. This superstar literally sat on the phone with me and heard me out.

“She then told me she went through the same challenge when she was working on her first project. People didn’t believe in her. I’m not alone.”

In 2019, Cuppy took to Twitter to lament that a majority of Nigerians hate her.

“80% of Nigerian people don’t like me,” she tweeted. “Good thing we have a large population!”.

She ended with a laughing emoji.

The entertainer has constantly received backlash from some quarters especially when she releases new songs. Many people said she lacks talent but only being famous, thanks to her father’s wealth.
