Mr Omoyele Sowore detained by the Department of the State Service (DSS) is fighting back over his detention.

Sowore, 48, was arrested by the DSS in the early hour of Saturday in Lagos over his planned protest which was supposed to hold on Monday the 5th of May.

The protest tagged RevolutionNow was to challenge the government to act decisively on the insecurity in the country and bad governance.

The DSS had filed a motion to allow it detain the activist for 90 days but was granted 45 days by the Federal High Court.

The founder of Sahara Reporters online Newspaper who contested the 2019 Presidential election has filed a motion through his lawyer, Femi Falana, asking the Court of Appeal to direct a vacation of the remand order and discharge him of all allegation against him.

The AAC former candidate raised 19 points, arguing that the motion violates his fundamental human rights, as well as the rule of the court.

Mr Sowore has also argued that the order contravenes the provisions of the constitution and was only made to legalise his “illegal” detention.

Meanwhile, as Sowore languishest in the detention of the DSS, his party, The African Action Alliance (AAC) announced his expulsion from the party.

Sowore who was the party’s presidential candidate in the 2019 general election was expelled along with 28 other National Officers.

The African Action Alliance (AAC) on Friday, in Owerri, the Imo State capital, announced the expulsion of its National Chairman, Mr Omoyele Sowore, from the party.

Before his sack, he was the National Chairman of the party. His sack may not be unconnected with his current travail, his call for a revolutionary protest to address the insecurity and bad governance in the country.

The party took the decision at the National Convention of the party at Rockviw Hotel in Owerri.

Dr. Leonard Nzenwa was announced as the new National Chairman.

Chief Emeka Ezeife moved the motion and was seconded by Nasiru Abdul Rahman.

The AAC accused Sowore of bringing disrepute to the party through his call for revolution.

Dr. Nzenwa said the former Chairman was trying to change the party through unconstitutional means.

“The AAC is poised to take over power in 2023 through the ballot and not through any unconstitutional means. We acknowledge the constitutional rights of citizens to peaceful protest against government but we are aware that this constitutional right does not include the right to resort to unconstitutional take over of the government of the country or any part thereof.

“We as law party dissociate the party from any move to unconstitutionally topple the government and any individual who may have done that in the name of the party did so without our consent and clearly did not do so in the name of the party or on its behalf,” Nzenwa said.
