The National Coordinator for Change Initiative Network (CIN) , Mr Sola Adekanmbi has said Nigerians should not expect any fairness in the distribution of the wealth of the land until they themselves have changed.

According to him, Nigerians need to change their orientation, attitudes and characters for the citizens to experience equity in the distribution of the wealth of the Nation. Speaking on the theme, ‘Building A Nation of Equity, Justice and Equality’ , the politician who contested for Lagos House of Assembly seat in the 2019 general election on the platform of UDP, laments that there is a total deviation from the founding fathers dream of a nation where no one is oppressed.

“We live in a nation where the wealth of the land is circulating among privileged few who find themselves in the corridors of power,” he posits, while blaming “the situation whereby people who lack, vision, direction, competence and capacity for quality delivery of democracy dividends are being elected into power, on Nigerians’ attitudes to politics and governance.

“I challenge our youths who constitute about 60% of the population to take responsibility for the greatness of Nigeria by changing their lackadaisical attitude especially during electioneering campaigns.

Until we begin to demand accountability from office holders especially those who hardly can afford bicycle and suddenly own fleet of cars few months after getting to office, rather than hailing and praising them, there can not be Equity,Justice and Equality in the land,” he Warns.

Recounting his experience in the 2019 general election, Adekanmbi calls for electoral reforms that will allow independent candidacy and eliminate a system where some political parties deliberately charge exorbitant rates for nomination forms to discourage or prevent people with genuine intentions from contesting for elective office.
