Mass Raids Loom in Abuja Over DCP Killing by Shi'ite Protesters

Massive raids of the Abuja environs by the Nigeria Police to arrest protesting members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria a.k.a Shi’ite, have been scheduled to begin soon, following the killing of a deputy commissioner of police on Monday evening, according to a very reliable source.

DCP Umar Belel was reportedly shot by one of the irate protesters who had gone to pacify them to be orderly.

The source said the raids would be conducted within the FCT, over multiple days, to fish out criminals members of the Shi’ite, who had resorted to using dangerous weapons against peaceful protest.

DCP Umar, who was in charge of Operations at the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, was shot dead as he tried to pacify angry Shi’ite members whose protest partially grounded commercial activities and vehicular movement around the Federal Secretariat, Abuja on Monday.

He was immediately taken to an undisclosed hospital where he gave up the ghost.
