Former senate president, David Mark, may face questioning by federal government for allegedly abandoning roads and water projects said to worth billions of naira although he got a chunk of the payment, a very reliable source revealed this to us.

According to the source that lives in Otukpo, Mark’s hometown, the giant politician may have disconnected himself with his people based on the fact that he failed to provide them with dividends of democracy even when they relied on him for their political destiny for so long.

As we gathered, during the administration of the late President Musa Yar’Adua, the contract to repair the Otukpo-Enugu federal highway was reportedly awarded to Senator Mark’s wife who reportedly pocketed billions of naira that was first paid.

Also, it was said that the senator who presently represents Benue South district got the contract to provide water for the town. The two projects, we gathered, up till date remain at the starting stage. The source said that rather than completing the water project, the senator allegedly established a ‘pure’ water company and sell to indigenes.

The source said that Senator Mark got an invitation to appear by the EFCC based on the failed projects during the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan but that the process was stalled almost immediately by the power-that-be.

The source, however, said that the incumbent Buhari government may revisit the case anytime soon, adding that the fear of Buhari was the reason why the senator has not been outspoken in recent time.

Reacting to Mark’s recent allegation that his government was giving out to wheelbarrows to empower people when other states are commissioning projects, Benue State governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom said; “Senator Mark certainly owes the people of Benue South an explanation on why the Otukpo-Enugu federal highway is still a death trap after many years that the contract was awarded by the government. Mark used the road project and his perennial promise for the creation of Apa State as campaign lullabies just to ensure his return to the red chamber of the senate on five occasions. It is rather unfortunate that Mark has failed to see the deliberate underdevelopment of the state by the government of his political party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, particularly the part of the state which he has represented as senator for nearly 20 years.”
