Nollywood star actress, Oyinda Oladejo has reacted to the Monday’s COVID-19 pandemic broadcast by President Muhammadu Buhari advising that Nigerians expected more from Mr President.

In a viral video she personally shared on Tuesday, the Ondo born movie maker and producer declared that the executive directive though necessary, but should have clearly captured how well security of lives and properties as well as welfare of the vulnerable groups would be properly addressed during the mandatory lockdown.

She also condemned how residents of some communities in Ogun and Lagos have lost sleep over robberies in the neighbourhoods by a gang of roaming hoodlums seizing the coronavirus lockdown to unleash terror on the two states, advising that more needs to be done to guarantee people’s safety.

Reacting further to the second phase of mandatory 14-day lockdown, Oyinda appealed to the President to extend the stimulus package to more indigent and vulnerable segments of the society across the 6 geo-political zones of the country with no restriction, adding that there is severe hunger and poverty in the land which is largely contributing to social vices and other deviant behaviours in the land.

Her focus was more on the South West in the video even as she called on traditional leaders, political elites and other influential figures in the country to add their voice and support to mitigate against the current challenges the country is faced with. Names like that of Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former Ondo lawmaker and current Chairman of ZLP in Ondo State, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja. She appealed to them all to use the strength of their goodwill to nip the crisis in the bud.

She equally made a clarion call to the wife of the President, Hajia Aishat Buhari and wives of Governors in the country to appeal to their husbands so that the voices of the needy who are often begging for their assistance for succour would be heard for desirous intervention to be met.

Her video also gave strong concerns on how the world continues to battle the pandemic, with a specific focus on Lagos State, the epicenter of COVID-19 in Nigeria which has recorded the highest toll of confirmed cases, admitting that the state is going through one of its roughest moments in decades and the worst of times amid the pandemic lockdown.
