The National leadership of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has lent its support to sustain the global fight against the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic, as it officially flagged off a humanitarian scheme on Monday by distributing relief materials such to various operational locations like fuel tanker stop-over spots and loading points, customized hand sanitizers and other safety gears.
A statement made available to Global Excellence reads thus:
”The National Leadership of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) in furtherance to our pledge to be on the frontline in the fight against the Coronavirus is officially sending out to various operational locations, Drivers Stop-Over Spots and loading points customized hand sanitizers and other safety gears.
The Union carefully engaged a competent pharmaceutical company with good track records known as ADCEM Pharmaceutical Company to produce specifically for our members across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria.
These hand sanitizers come in 10 litres transparent jerry cans to serve as refill for dispensers with other safety kits, such as hand gloves and mouth masks which we had already distributed across to all our zonal offices in Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Warri and of course Lagos.
As you may be aware, we have 154 Petroleum Loading Depots across the country, but as we are talking we have 120 of these numbers in active operation.
Besides that, Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) Branch of NUPENG have about 300 places across the country that serve as their Stop-Over-Point for resting and recreation, we will be distributing these items to all these places too.
Conservatively, we will be sending out about a thousand of these items every week until the siege is over. ADCEM Pharmaceutical Company may not have the capacity to meet this demand and we are in talks with other companies to support this production.
We are also going to provide further logistics and support to our members as we deemed necessary.
Oil and Gas Workers need all your support at this period and we are doing this from the meager savings we have.”
