A coalition of 24 civil society organisations (CSOs) under the auspices of C24 has raised the alarm over plans by disgruntled politicians, conniving with some members of the judiciary to destabilize the country ahead of the coming 2019 General Elections.

The Executive Secretary, Anti-Corruption and Research Based Data Initiative (ARDI), Chief Dennis Emeka Aghanya, who led other members of the coalition, told newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja that there had been clandestine activities by some desperate politicians, compromised judicial officers, unscrupulous personnel of the electoral umpire and hostile foreign actors to destabilize the peace of Nigeria before, during and after the 2019 General Elections.

According to him, those aggrieved among the political class were those this administration is prosecuting for looting the public treasury when they held public office.

“These rattled members of the political class consider themselves in a race against time to ward off the evil day when they must account for their misdeeds against the people, and they are prepared to wreck anything, even the country itself, to prevent the inevitable reckoning.
