A Lagos based popular journalist, Mr Tijani Shehu Adegbola, has accused his wife of 13 years and mother of his three children, Ramotalahi Tijani, popularly called Hajia of adultery and sale of his house and car without his consent.

In a statement sent to this medium, Adegbola stated that Hajia Tijani sold the house to one Mr Idowu Shodipe, with the false claim that she was a widow, including his Honda Pilot jeep, a laptop and Canon camera while she took away some academic certificates.

In his statement, Adegbola accused the Divisional Police Officer of Itele in Ogun State, Juliana Yusuf, of aiding his wife in the sale of his properties. Also, he alleged he was hinted that a male police officer from Itele had been visiting his wife behind him and sleeping over occasionally.

“We had dragged ourselves to the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan Lagos, where the case was handled by CSP Adegbite Omotayo over the sale of my house located at 25, Orinsunbare Street, Itele, Ogun State. After the police investigations, it was revealed that my wife forged the documents of the house,” Adegbola narrated.

Continuing, he said; “my wife confessed to this crime and she and the illegal occupants of the house were detained, after which an agreement was reached that Mr Idowu Shodipe and his family should vacate the property by June 4th, 2024 which they agreed to.”

“However, on Sunday, 20th of July, 2024, I took some journalists to the house for inspection, only to discover that Mr Shodipe and his family were still occupying the property almost two months after the expiration of the agreement. The community leaders, including the CDA Zone 1 Chairman, Mr Sharafa Oguntade and his secretary intervened to address the situation.”

“While on it, the lawyer to Mr Shodipe arrived and pleaded with me to give his client a soft landing, while at the same time Mr Shodipe was threatening to deal with me if I ever come close to the house.”

“After everyone had left the scene, the DPO of Itele, Juliana Yusuf, instructed three policemen to arrest a co-landlord who was at the scene called Alfa, and I heard that the DPO also threatened to arrest me anytime I come near the house.”

Adegbola said that his marital crisis began in 2022 over attempts by his wife to check through his phone calls, texts and messages. “I would refuse and my wife would break the phone,” Adegbola alleged in his statement.

Adegbola further alleged that on several occasions had his wife threatened him with knife over flimsy misunderstandings and he would flee the home almost naked. Adegbola also said he suspected one Kehinde Awowole, a police officer of coming to sleep over in his marital home whenever he was not around.
