Lagos based journalist, Abdul-Rahman Ismail, was amongst notable personalities who were conferred with chieftaincy titles by High Chief Edward Larunsi, the Baale of Ashorobi town in Ogun State, last weekend.

 

Rahman, who is the publisher of Akede News, an English tabloid whose title aims to attract the Yoruba-speaking community, was born and bred in Epe, Lagos State over fourty years ago.

 

He is a product of Lagos State University (LASU). He started his Journalism career at ALAROYE newspaper and AKEDE Agbaye magazine respectively between 2005 and 2006 as an IT student. After graduation, Rahman worked briefly in an electrical installation company, Kandelight where he was skilled as an electrician but his penchant and urge for writing and journalism led to his joining Alariya Oodua Magazine.

 

 

He was later employed at the Top Celebrities magazine where he covered the entertainment beat and got promoted as a senior staff writer before he resigned and became an editor at Newsthumb magazine.

 

 

After his stint at Newsthumb, Rahman joined Nigeria NewsDirect daily newspaper before moving to Global Excellence magazine.

 

 

His late grandfather, Chief Rahman Sanni was the Balogun of Shirinwon/Igbękodo towns. After his demise, his son, Rahman Akanbi Mutiu, Ba’aroyin’s father was appointed to step on his late father’s stool as Balogun and the Balogun Adinni of the two towns Central Mosque.

 

 

Having served well in various capacities, ‘Jorna’ as Rahman is fondly called, diversified into the automobile business where he is currently becoming a big player.
