From every indication, pop-highlife exponent, Chris MBA appears poised to do battle with the Nigerian Breweries Plc over the latter’s nonchalance concerning payment of judgment debt and interest emanating from a 17-year-old suit which on March 16, 2018 was judged in favour of the former.

Recall that Chris Mba was in 2000 horsewhipped when he went to have a discussion with the star act of NB Plc’s Star Mega Jam staged at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu through which he sustained serious eye injury.

He subsequently pressed charges against NB PLC in 2001 at the High Court sitting in Enugu which returned verdict in his favour, prompting the appeal.

The matter dragged and got concluded at the Court of Appeal, Enugu Judicial Division, before Justices Helen Morenikeji Ogunwumiju, Tom Shaibu Yakubu and Misitura Modere Bolaji Yusuf, on March 16, 2018.

Chris won with the award of =N=3, 478, 718. ,50 against NB PLC as general damages, special damages, cost at High Court and cost at Appeal Court.

Due to foot-dragging by NB PLC in settling the said fee, Chris MBA counsel, Prof. Zephyrinus Chukwuemeka Anyogu wrote to the company’s lawyer, Uche Ihediwa Esqr. asking him to advise his client to release the fee including another =N=5, 426, 800. 68, representing accrued interest since judgment; debt for six years at 10 percent per annum.

Failure to accede to the request, wrote Prof. Anyogu, there will be involvement of the bailiffs into the company premises.
