It is common knowledge that most Nigerian celebrity singers seek spiritual means to achieve popularity, approaching spiritualists in churches and mosques and even shrines seeking to enhance their career and status.
One of these places of worship is a celestial church located opposite the popular Acme Road in Ikeja.

We were able to establish it that top music stars do attend this church. Apart from other bigger names, names like Klever Jay, Danny Young, AY.Com, Art-Quake, Lite-One and a budding singer who is a Terry G’s Signee, Prince Banton, were mentioned as attendees.
It was disclosed that for deliverance prayers, the artistes are asked to stay in the church’s premises for about 10 days or more after which they are asked to take their bath at midnight.

A church source told this magazine that, star artistes whose names would not be mentioned are regular callers at the church while those who are members of the church are the lesser known. However, the church lamented that some of those who got their fame through the church are unappreciative of the gesture.

“They abandon the church as soon as their prayers are answered. They would not even like to be associated with us once they become popular and rich,” stressed the source.

To confirm this story, we called the mobile phones of the artistes mentioned but they were either not available or switched off. The only artiste that we were able to reach was Danny Young, who recently featured Olamide in his latest hit single, ‘Omo Lepa’.  Danny Young, when asked if he attends that particular church or has sought spiritual help from there as reported, said yes, he was familiar with Celestial Church. “I know celestial churches, and have attended one,” he admitted simply.
