Bus’ Scandal Rocks OAU SUG

The purchase of a 14-seater bus for 3 million naira by the Student Union Government of the prestigious citadel of learning OAU, Ile-Ife is causing rumpus and issues about it now top discussion among staff and students of the institution. We gathered that allegation of shady deals is flowing from different quarters, as colleague students reportedly raised eyebrow on why only the President and the Financial Secretary allegedly knew about the plans to purchase the bus and its eventual procurement. However, following the scandal that greeted the purchase of the bus, the man who has all eyes on him, Oyekan Ibukun Edward, the SUG President has taken a rare step to clear himself of the allegations and establish his innocence. Oyekan has written to the anti-graft agency, ICPC, and got it invited to begin investigations into the scandals surrounding the purchase of the controversial bus.  We further learned the president considered the idea of purchasing the bus with the aim of reducing transportation challenges on campus. Global Excellence magazine learned that a group of students has emerged and ready to tackle the SUG President on the issue under the name ‘Save Our Union Action Committee’  with Ajayi Olufemi Castro, Tomide Luther, Emma O Emma Ayejusunle Samuel and others as members. The group, canvassing that the issues must be properly investigated, we gathered held a meeting with students at the popular Awolowo Hall Cafe a few days ago.
