A first class monarch in Oyo State, the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, has reportedly rejected N90 million from the N100 million donation promised by the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for the repair of his vandalized palace. The Soun, Global Excellence gathered, wrote a letter to the governor few days ago asking him to keep the balance.

Recall that hoodlums attacked the palace of the Ogbomoso monarch on Sunday, October 11 following the killing of a young #EndSARS protestor, Isiaka Jimoh. The hoodlums reportedly destroyed some facilities in the palace and two people were reported dead in the attack. Governor Makinde, who visited the palace on Tuesday, October 13, pledged to give the monarch N100 million to repair the damaged part of the palace.

Meanwhile, in a letter signed by the monarch and addressed to the state governor, the Soun wrote: “a coordinated community of Ogbomoso sons and daughters has also taken responsibility for the repairs and renovations of their palace and renovation work has commenced.”

In the letter, the monarch admitted that N10 million had been released immediately the governor made the pledge but told the governor to withhold the balance of N90 million, while thanking the governor for the gesture and reiterated his advice to the governor that unemployed youths in the state be engaged.
