Olawale Ashimi a.k.a Brymo has spoken to news hunters about his new video ‘Heya’, where he was shot almost naked, wearing only a parchment covering his genitals, saying that it portrays a bushman living in the city.

According to him, the song is an expression of the environment he lives in, adding that most people are actually bush despite the fact that they live in the city.

“The song is an expression of my environment. I like to paint as much as I can and I think that most of us are bush people, even though we live in cities.

“The video portrayed a bushman living in the city. If you look around, you wouldn’t see much evidence of civilization. We did not create most of the things that we use in this country and that’s not good. We need to think”, he said.

When asked what he thought about being accused of using his nakedness as a publicity stunt for the song, Brymo

said, “Even if it’s a publicity stunt, is there anything wrong with that? Singers spend a lot of time and energy in the studio. So is there anything absurd in them drawing some attention to their songs?”

On if he feels underrated in the Nigerian music industry, Brymo said, “No, I am not. People are used to a system and if you want to change them, you have to do it slowly. My albums are doing well and we found that most people, who download my music are in Europe and America. Right now, I have no complaints.”

He went on to dismiss claims that he is unrecognized in the music industry, revealing that despite what people think, he gets a lot of love in Africa.
