A Lagos based socialite, one Afolabi (surname withheld) has been accused of stealing his elder brother’s higher school certificates.
The accused worked with the Ifako/ Ijaiye Local government before he left for the United Kingdom two years ago.
Reliable sources said that the elder brother named Olusola (surname witheld) cried out when he discovered that his school certificates were missing following his bid to also travel.
Our sources claimed that it was his brother’s certificates the accused used to secure job at the Lagos council and bore his identity till he left the country.
The accused was said to be notorious for swindling people. While planning his first trip abroad, sources said that he took huge sums of money from neighbours at his area, promising to help them secure visas at the embassy.
One of his victims, a woman in her 60s allegedly died after losing N2 million to him. She was said to have died from the shock.
As we write this piece, the elder brother of Afolabi was said to have written a petition against the accused which resulted in his being blocked from returning to his base in the UK.
